The disc wears evenly and because the abrasive remains cool and sharp, PSG products last significantly longer than their conventional counterparts and deliver long-term high performance in production applications. To achieve this high level of performance, engineers at 3M applied proprietary microreplication technologies to create very precise triangular structures from 3M Ceramic Abrasive Grain material. These structures were then electrostatically oriented and placed as sharp triangles on the back of the disc. These ultra-sharp dots cut through metal like a knife, instead of grooving or ploughing like conventional abrasives. As the disc wears down, the dots break off, creating new sharp points. Thanks to the Roloc system, you can replace a disc quickly and easily. The 787C fibre disc is available with a diameter between 5.08 cm - 10.16 cm for use with TSM and TR Roloc fastening systems. Choose the disc with the fastening system made for your tool. Tips for optimal use Fibre discs are suitable for intensive use and have a tough, rigid backing of vulcanised glass fibre that is wear-resistant, and able to withstand tough grinding applications. For optimum performance, this disc should be used with a 3M Roloc backing disc of the appropriate density for the respective application: a softer backing disc for lighter cutting operations and a firmer disc for heavy-duty applications. Use of the right backing pad ensures that the abrasive mineral remains sharp for maximum service life.
